Hi Folks,

There was an interesting effort to try to get a bus for Seva Chakkara atleast in the weekends, that I thought I would like to share with the group.

One of my e-friends in SV read the proposal for Seva Chakkara for WAH and we were bouncing off ideas on how we could get a bus to atleast take the childre who are at the orphanage out on weekends. It turned out that she had worked in India (at Cadence! We were in the same group, but she left the year I joined). She had a few friends who were working in MNCs in India. One of them was the managing director of HCL (computer hardware+software) in Chennai so she started talking to him about the possibility of them helping out with the transportation and maybe with the computer institute. He fwd the info to the HR folks. Apparently, they are also already helping out with tnsf's activities (small world :).)

Anyway, cutting the long story short, my mother went with Velayudham and visited the contact person today. The company doesn't own a bus so they can't help out with transportation, but they are going to visit the orphanage and figure out how they can work best with them. This will probably be with technical work on the computer institute and volunteer work at the orphanage.

After the talk with my mom, they have also decided to become volunteers of the Asha-Chennai chapter, which is starting to take shape of a small movement of it's own.

On the Asha-Chennai phone call last weekend, the Seva Chakkara computer institute was adopted as an Asha-Chennai project. This meant that the volunteers decided to work on making this institute successful and operational with the computer based education model for all asha supported projects in Chennai(for starters).

Unfortunately, there is no moral of the story :). We just keep trying.

Thanks for reading.

luv,
Sanjeev
