How the local community will be contributing in building this center?
a).We propose to associate local young, enthusiastic, well educated, past students
of the Sanstha and other local residents with day to day working by forming a
Local Executive Committee consisting of a Chairman and Secretary for Centre's
administrative problems and fund raising. At present, the existing local
committee mainly confines itself to the school and college activities.
b). According to our information, there are very few local philanthropists or
trusts in Konkan area which was until recently dubbed as 'Money Order' economy.
c). However, in the meanwhile, we have approached philanthropists and Charitable
Trusts in Mumbai by addressing an appeal for funds for the Centre.
d). We also propose to involve local Mahila Mandal conducting Mahila Gramodyogs
in Ajgaon in the Centre's activity.
What is the organization's plan for making the center a
self-sufficient one?
It is intended to market the products made by the Trainees by holding Exhibitions
at various cities half-yearly and also at Village Melas as is done by some
Multinationals. Besides these products would be displayed in 5 Star Hotels /
well-known shops at various cities as is usually done by some manufacturers.
For this purpose, we propose to appoint a marketing man. You would appreciate
that it will take some time to make the Centre self-sufficient as normally any
product put on the market takes few years to break-even unless it is a Monopoly
Product or well-known Brand and it is produced in economic quantity.
However, we also expect Khadi & Village Industries, Vile Parle (West), to assist
us in marketing the products with whom we had a preliminary discussion.
In due course of time we shall be charging fees for outside students, hold
specialisation classes consisting of about 10 students twice a year.
In due course, we also expect grants for training students nominated or approved
by Khadi Village Industries Commission or as may be nominated by the State
Government Board for Technical Education for training SSC students opting for
'Pottery'.
