Feb 1995 | Letter Sent for further clarification by Asha-Seattle |
March 15, 1996 | Clarifications received from RHEDT. Everything is perfect. |
April 1996 | Asha Seattle conditionally approves $3000 per year for 3 years (no support for food). |
May 1996 | Murali site visits Ansoor and PoochiMarathur villages. First check ($1000) issued on May 2, 1996. |
June 1, 1996 | School started at PoochiMarathur village. |
July 1, 1996 | Asha Seattle newsletter carried the site visit report. |
Aug 15, 1996 | Independence day celebrated (Murali’s parents site visit the project). The school is functioning with a thatched roof. Two more schools started in other villages. Total children enrolled is about 75. |
Oct 1996 | First quarterly report with
photos received. Asha issued next installment of $1000.
A proposal for self-employment photocopy center is received. A proposal for supporting student scholarship scheme received. |
Dec 1996 | Ack for check ($1000) received. Requested support for noon-meal scheme and support of higher education (correspondence degree programs) sought. Letter sent requesting details for noon-meal scheme. |
Jan 1997 | More details regarding STD booth/Xerox center received. RHEDT conducted a Republic day celebration at "Ukkainoor" village. Murali’s parents walked (7km each way) to this village and joined the celebration. |
Feb 1997 | Request and Clarification for Noon meal scheme received. A check for $1000 (3rd installment of 1st year) + $550 (food amount for 5 months) was sent. |
