Please describe the long term goals of the project. Please mention any changes you may foresee: Improve
community awareness. Set up a vocational training unit at Kempapura
Agrahara – form parent group being a registered organisation, leading to
self sustainability of the
project.
Develop community
participation of the community do a Pilot study in the villages to be
covered to persue medical rehabilitation is very important
How
much longer is funding required:
Kempapura Agrahara – We aim to self
sustainability by 5 year from now
Yelahanka –
As the project is young atleast 10 year period may be required. In Kempapura Agrahara as the
community is cosmopolitan in nature and there is no county bonding. Our
aim of self sustainability has chances of not fulfilling by the target
date.

potential improvements required in facilities
Kempapura
Agrahara: Vocational training unit to be started in another building with
splint making to be included has been not done so far as space is not
enough.
Yelahanka –
Addition of two village units would help rural children to get quality
rehabilitation and the help given to the yelahanka town would be helpful
for having a base from where we can work.
What are the
perceived improvements seen for the last year?
Kempapura
Agrahara:
. Awareness
has improved, number of children has improved, the needs have increased,
more space is requested for vocational training program. Shows the
improvement of the demand, local people are empowered.
Yelhanka:
Spastic society develops on needs,
Yelahanka was started with intentions of helping few children in
Yelahanka New town. Since the
last year the number has increased form 4 Nos. to 14 Nos.
and also children from near by villages has been covered on a 1/7 visits
and are wanting to start some thing in their villages hence the new
project envisaged.
What are the
problems you have faced last year?
The major
problem in Agrahara is now ‘space’ with the involvement of Asha funding we
are able to give quality management and increase awareness. The number has shot up remarkably well
and we had problems of including all the children. As there are few older
children who need vocational training we did start it in a small way of
doing plastic bags (hand woven) garla nds are door mats using waste cloth.
Yelahanka: Sustenance
of the unit to start with, was space. As they are in a rented
accommodation they needed to shift in the last year. Luckily space was found with out
problems last year but this could be / may be a problem in future. But
the
optimism of
the parents there makes it look like that this programme will continue
forever.
What do you think is
the overall effectiveness of this project over the past
year?
As the
Yelahanka project is new, awareness and acceptance of the community for a
programme as the project has become visible now. Community support has
developed.
Anything
you would like to say to us: We at
spastic society are quite happy about the support from Asha Seattle as it
is helping us to support programs.
The above
programs are directly under SSK Administration as well as financial
support are from SSK
