I had visited Shri Lalit Uniyal's School Krish Audyogik Vidyalaya, located in Aau village of Banda district, with the Governor of UP on 31st October, 1994. At that time the School had about 135 students, most of them from the deprived sections. The programme presented by the School children in honour of the Governor was highly impressive. It included a very disciplined PT display; a demonstration of a wide range of yogasanas; a skit; various complex pyramids; and a full length  socially relevant play from a story of Premchand. It was a delight to see village girls participating in the programmes along with the boys. What impressed most was the fact that the entire programme was conducted by the children them selves, and at no stage did any adult come between them and their display. Moreover, the children conducted the programme with uncommon efficiency, and it went on with clock-like precision with no gaps or lapses for a full hour and a half. It was truly a joyful experience, to which the backdrop of natural green surroundings added a feeling of upliftment. The Governor was so impressed by the School that he sanctioned a substantial grant for starting a Computer Awareness Programme in the institution. I understand that the School has since purchased 4 computers and the children are being taught how to operate them.

I wish there were many more schools run with such sincerity and efficiency.
