Started in 2005, the project places 50-60 full-time teachers in 18-20 government schools in Tamilnadu state. About 7500 students have been benefited . The Princeton chapter supported the project with one time amount of $16,000 during the year 2012. Part of the funds came from WAH. Subhashree has been championing the project. She came to the chapter with a proposal requesting support for another year, and if possible in future, too. Subhashree presented the progress of the project. The meeting reviewed the progress and felt that the results were impressive. However, concerns were expressed about its size, expansion, and long term viability. The meeting, considering a favorable budget situation at the chapter, felt that the chapter could support the project for another year without deciding whether the support will continue in the future years. The proposal sought for a support of $20, 000 in a total project budget of about Indian Rupees 50, 00, 000 (approximately US $100,000) for the year 2013-2014. The meeting reviewed the total budget needs, and decided unanimously to support the project at $20000 for the year 2013-2014. It was also decided to release the entire amount in one installment to enable planning for the academic activities. Subhashree was requested to follow up on completing the formalities such as preparing the checklist to release the funds. Minutes posted by Ravi.
