A big Hello from all the children and team at Shristi!

Warm Greetings from Shristi Special Academy!

We had a wonderful Sports Day on 17th September 2005, at our
Channenahalli Campus. It started at 10.00 a.m with Shri. Mariswamy. S
- Director General of Police, Commandant General Home Guards lighting
and flagging of the torch.  The inauguration of the Sports Day started
by releasing of the doves.

The school band of Acharya Sri Mahapragya High School officially
welcomed the Chief Guest with the Guard of Honour and the grand
salute. The inauguration of the Sports Day was done by the Chief Guest
releasing doves.

The program began with an Invocation song by the students of the
Primary Unit, followed by the welcome address by Mrs. Suchita
Somashekariah, Co-Founder&Technical Director of Shristi Special
Academy. The Chief Guest gave a heartwarming speech, encouraging the
management in their endeavours to train and habilitate children with
Mental retardation and Autism which touched the hearts of all the who
were present.

Many friends of Shristi from Tyco, Accenture, HP, Motorola Siksha ,
Progeon and regular Volunteers (Deepak, Anand, Bhavana, Veena) and
parents enthusiastically joined in to Volunteer at the various events
.  We also had Susheelamma from Sumangali Seva Ashram, who graced the
occasion with her presence.  Mr. Sathya, his family and a group of
neighbourhood children visited Shristi and aptly donated Sports
equipment from their collection during the Ganesha festival.

Sports Day was sponsored by a group of friends of Shristi who
volunteer every year to make this event possible.

The events started at 11.00am and all the children were given an
opportunity to exhibit their talents.  We had more that 20 different
games for the children and the entire campus was filled with
excitement and the spirit of sportsmanship.

The children were divided into groups with colour codes for each unit.
Each group had three events each.

The Blue group was the (Autism and Prevocational).  Ranga, Amit, Ankit
and Poorvi were the winners.  Red group (Sheltered Workshop) group
Shyam, Ramu, Pashvika, Jaswant and Manjunath were the winners.  Pink
Group (Chigaru) Vijay, Priyanka, Shoba, Deepu and Rohan were the
winners.  Yellow Group (Early Intervention & Autism - Jr. group)-
Dhanush, Vyshak, Levi, Deepti, Akarsh, Yellow Group(Primary & Autism
Sub Jr. group) - Shusmita & Likita were the winners for three
events. Vipin, Anugraha, Shruthi, Prajwal, Tejas & Swaroop were the
winners for the three events.  Green Group (Respite Care) Vishwas,
Chidanand, Hemant, Rekha, Sumana, Lavanya, Srinivas, Mayur and Anoop
were the winners for the three events.

Orange Group (Vocational Unit) Usha, Harish, Bushra, Suraj, Dhruva,
Nethra, Naveen, Suman, Deepak & Anushree were the winners in three
events.

A special group of 8 children who are physically challenged were given
consolation prizes

All the children, volunteers, staff and parents had a fun time and
joined in the excitement during the events and prize distribution.
The events during the first half of the morning was followed by a
delicious lunch.

The Prizes were distributed to the winners amid shouts of joy by
Mr.Baliga, Mr.Chandrashekar, Ms.Padmaja and other corporate
volunteers.  Ms. Sharon Watts Director of Shristi handed over a
memento to all the volunteers as a remembrance of this special day and
gave the vote of thanks, in appreciation of all those who worked hard
to make this day successful and a truly memorable one.

All at Shristi send out heartfelt thanks to the Sponsors, volunteers,
parents, friends and well wishers who came together to make this day
such a happy and memorable one.

We missed all our friends and well wishers who were not present on
this occasion but would like to thank them for their good wishes.
