Dear Brother Provincial Superior,

I am writing to you on behalf of Asha for Education, an organization that has been supporting the Jaher Samati, which is running a primary school in Bagjobra in the Churchu block of the Hazaribag district. As you are well aware of, we are sending our money through your FCRA for the past two years since the Jaher Samiti does not have FCRA yet.

First off, I sincerely thank you and the Brothers of St. Gabriel for your kindness and support in allowing us to route the money through your organization. For the past two years, we have been indebted to your organization in supporting us and the Santhal children. I am sure that Ms. Jahermuni Germaine Alphonso of the Jaher Samiti would feel the same way. Asha for Education-MIT knows that the money that is supporting the Jaher School is well worth it as it has been visited by various members of our organization who have only good things to say about the school. We also understand that the Jaher Samiti and the Brothers are also working on a project together funded by HCDI.

Based on our past good experiences with the Jaher Samiti, Asha for Education-MIT has decided to continue funding for the school in 2003-2004. Therefore, I am currently enclosing another check for $2,300 to be disbursed to the Jaher Samiti and school. Rather than mailing the check to Ms. Jahermuni who would then give it to you, we felt that mailing the check directly to you would be more efficient. Ms. Jahermuni is informed of the fact that the check will be mailed to you and she might have already contacted you regarding the same.

About $800 out of the check is allocated for completing the construction of a well that is nearby the school and for installing a hand pump. The remaining $1500 is to be used for the salaries and hostel expenses of the Jaher School.

Currently, one of our volunteers, Ananth Chikkatur, is in India. He is the project steward for the Jaher project and has also visited the Bagjobra area. During his recent visit, he has also spoken with Brother Jaipal and Brother Joby John, and has visited the Dhavyya School nearby. If you have any questions or comments, you can reach Ananth at 0-98451-13929 and his email is ap_chikkatur@yahoo.com. His postal address currently is:

We hope that as soon as this letter with the check arrives, you will contact Ms. Jahermuni, through Bro. Jaipal of the Dhavyya School, and inform them of the same. A copy of the letter is also mailed to Ms. Jahermuni.

Thank you once again for all your previous support for us and the Jaher School, and also thank you in advance for accepting this check on behalf of the Santhal children in the Churchu area.

Sincerely,
