Proposal June 2004 – May 2005.
This is the proposal received from Jaher after Harish’s short visit. The proposal includes education activities, developmental activities, and much needed repair to the building and facilities.
Repairs of the school buildings:
I am sending you an estimate for the roofing of all 4 mud buildings. The roofing being of asbestos with local tiles to cover it.
The length of the 4 buildings are altogether 147 feet.
Each asbestos sheet is 3.5 feet wide and 10 feet long.
Therefore we would need 100 sheets and 49 top covers in the middle.
Each asbestos sheet costs Rs. 330/-. x 100 sheets = Rs. 33,000
49 top covers cost Rs. 7,000
Hooks Rs. 2,000
Transport Rs. 1,000
One mistry x 7 days @ Rs.150/- per day Rs. 1,050
Total requirement Rs. 44,050
Labor is volunteered by the people.
Some of the Classrooms have no doors and windows, so that the cattle use its shelter at nights causing much damage to the buildings.
An estimate for:
4 doors @ Rs 1000/- each = Rs. 4000/-
8 Windows @ Rs 750/- each = Rs. 5800/-
Total = Rs. 9800/-
Although as tube well has been installed we still have water problems. The well dug last year has some water, but very little. If this well could be deepened and widened, there will be sufficient water for both the school and hostel and the village.
Cost associated with this is ~Rs. ~50,000.
We will request you to continue funding the school and Hostel for one more year or until we can be self-sufficient. This will include a monthly funding for :
2 teachers @ Rs 2000/- per month or Rs. 48,000/-
1 teacher @ Rs. 1500/- per month or Rs. 18,000/-
Hostel @ Rs. 4000/- per month from Oct. ’04 to May’05.
(food & other running expenses for the hostel).
= 8 months Rs. 32,000/-
Rs. 200/- per month for night watchman Rs. 2,400/-
Rs. 500/- per month for Headmistress Rs. 6,000/-
Total amount required Rs. 1,06,400/-

Lastly, the Fishery Project. Kindly sanction this or part of this .
You had asked for the vouchers of our expenses. This has been submitted to the Brothers in December 2003 for accounting and auditing, which is done by the end of March each year. When we receive the audited statement, we will pass it on to you.
Harish’s Comments
I would further suggest to also allocate some funds for toys and sport equipment for the children at the school.
