Asha for Educatiom will be supporting the Kishalay Sisu Siksha Niketan model school. The primary purpose of this school is to encourage more children to go to both pre-primary and formal school rather than going to work, or, in the girls' case, getting married. The aim is to break the cycle of poverty by allowing the children to get an education. The student teacher ratio is kept low, and an emphasis is placed on creating a stimulating and supportive environment focused on the children.
To provide an opportunity for children in the Sundarbans to attend formal school.
Sabuj Sangha is a non-profit committed to improving the lives of people in West Bengal through projects concerning education, health and nutrition, sanitation, environmental disaster relief, and women's empowerment. Apart from the model school, projects include the National Child Labour Project, which aims to provide education to child laborers and integrate them into formal school, and the "Rehabilitation of Deprived Children through Education" project, which attempts to reintegrate children who have dropped out/fallen behind in government schools.
