Mukti Institute of Technology is set up not only to give professional computer training (desktop publishing, tally) and spoken English classes but also to run a placement cell for remote villages in Sundarbans they work in. After first 2 years of operation as training center, the employment exchange has been set up formed and collaboration with specific companies in Kolkata are formed. Youths are also trained as local entrepreneurs to fill the gaps of local economy to create more sustainable economy.

There are two main recurring projects currently between Asha for Education and Mukti - (a) Mukti Coaching Center/ Support school for school students and (b) Mukti Institute of Technology/Employment exchange for college student /passouts. The page with coaching center project details are linked at https://ashanet.org/project/?pid=788

Apart from these two projects, Asha for Education has supported many other projects and disaster relief efforts (cyclones and covid relief). Sundarban is a cyclone prone area and Mukti does a lot of relief and rehabilitation work during those times covering more than a lakh people. Also student scholarship projects and solar lantern projects are supported.

Among other projects supported over time, Bookbank project was supported for 13 years. Since 2020, the support was discontinued due to two reasons - financial constraints and continuous changes of curricular books by Govt.
Since 2003, Mukti has been working for Sunderban people in the Delta region of South 24 Parganas, WB, India with the programs of health, water and sanitation, education, agriculture, livelihood, environment & rights. Mukti is working with thirty island communities that are in catastrophes of climatic hazards resulting in penury, vulnerability, and violence where the Sunderban grassroots are subjected to such menaces. Mukti’s volunteers are spread all over India and outside India with an especially strong presence in the Sundarban area. There are thousands of locals in the organization who are working for the sole development of the Sundarban region.
Charitable and socio-economic development trust MUKTI was established in 2003 from the vision of a Sunderban native Sankar Halder. Sankar grew up in an underprivileged family in the Sunderban and went through the trials and tribulations that people living in Sunderbans suffer through. Sankar decided to involve educated and energetic local youth to develop themselves and their communities through various developmental projects. This vision led to the foundation of MUKTI.
MUKTI is registered under the Government of India Trust Act Section 64. It has an executive board who frame the policies and action items and pass down the action items to the ground level working committee. There are several different wings of the ground level working committee and every wing has several general members to implement the policies and work items of the board on the ground. A general body meeting is to be held every year. The executive board is elected for a two-year term, and will be dissolved and newly elected by and from the members by an electoral process.
