Asha Redlands Guidelines for Projects Selection:
Following are the guidelines that Asha Redlands chapter will consider when evaluating a project. These are not
fixed rules and may be mended on case-to-case basis after general consensus.
Projects should be self-sustainable
in the long run for both their financial and management needs. Asha Redlands should not have to support any projects
for the duration of more than 3 years.
Budget of the projects should
be low ($1000-$2000) and should benefit as many number of children as possible i.e. children helped per dollar
spent will be considered.
Efforts will be made to support
projects that have very low accessibility to resources. As a result of this criteria and that we want to keep $
spent per child as low as possible rural projects will be in general given preference to urban projects.
The funded organization should
not have any objectionable affiliations, i.e. any religious, ethnic, sectarian, caste, class or other prejudicial
links will debar the organization from being considered. Any such prejudicial links will be judged carefully based
on concrete evidence and not based on surmises or inferences.
It has to be a project that some
Asha member can visit and follow-up at some point during the funding. Direct contact at some point is a must to
ensure that the money is being spent as stated (in the funding request) and for evaluating future funding.
Priority will be given to projects
with a well-organized plan that helps children in attaining further education and self-reliability.
Organizers must agree on six-monthly
reviews by them, systematic reporting of funds and occasional short visits by members or liaisons.
