Andaman and Nicobar Environmental Team (ANET)

Andaman and Nicobar Environmental Team (ANET) is a division of the Madras Crocodile Bank Trust / Centre for Herpetology, and is based in Wandoor, in South Andaman Island. ANET has had a presence in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands since 1977, facilitating the study and conservation of the unique biodiversity of the ecologically rich and fragile Islands and its people.

With its many connections in the Islands, ANET was able to respond immediately to the earthquake and the Tsunami that devastated the Nicobar Island. Relief measures are in full swing and they have made an assessment of the relief camps around Port Blair. ANET is at present concentrating on sending immediate relief to the Nicobar Islands and has established a working relationship with the Defense Command.

Asha-Seattle with support from Asha-MIT/Boston is in the process of reviewing the proposal to support 230$ a day, for about 10 days, to supplement their immediate relief efforts in the hard hit Nicobar islands.

Total budget (for short term relief): $2300

We will be discussing long term rehab plans in parallel. Further information will be posted soon.
