Rejuvenate India Movement (RIM)
Rejuvenate India Movement (RIM) is a network of committed NGOs and individuals working together to promote and strengthen self reliant communities by catalyzing mass movement through people's participation in India. More information on RIM can be found at www.india-movement.org.
RIM has been actively involved in tsunami relief efforts. As part of their short term rehabilitation work in tsunami-hit areas, RIM is working on a cash for work programme that ploughs up the lands owned by farmers that have become saline due to the tsunami, for which they have put forth a proposal to Asha-Seattle. Long term plans for these regions are broad based and include work in the fields of education, health (including orphaned children and the elderly), IT based solutions and sustainable livelihood options.
The immediate financial requirement for this initiative is Rs 624,000 (rupees six lakh twenty four thousand, approx. 13,000 USD).
