  • Mt Rainier Climb by Alok Shriram
Alok successfully summitted Mt Rainier for Asha on July 14 via the Emmons Winthrop Glacier route. Click here to know more about his climb and/or support his cause.

  • Birthday parties for a cause.
Sujal & Anjali Parikh decided to accept donations to Asha Seattle instead of toys as gifts for their kids’ birthday parties. This not only makes the party more meaningful, but also teaches their children great values. Do consider doing this for your child’s next birthday party and help Asha Seattle in the process.

  • Giving Campaigners
Rachana Mundra & Farookh Mohammed have been coordinating support for one Asha project every year through the Microsoft Give Campaign. In addition to donating themselves, they also collect material on this project from the Asha steward and talk to their friends about why they should also give to this project.

Manu Puri, another long time contributor to Asha, will also be getting his friends and family to donate to Asha during this year’s Microsoft Give Campaign.

  • Tax Refund Fund for Asha
When they heard about Asha needing more funds this year, Meyyammai Subramanian & Ranjit Varkey set aside their tax refund for this year plus money saved from optional bills to create a special fund. They used this money to both donate directly as well as to give “gift checks” for celebrations. In addition, they have brought in new donors to Asha this year.

Already an Asha volunteer?

Here are some fund raising ideas explored by some of the fellow volunteers:

  • Matching donations of new donors up tp $25K by Jayashree & Bash
Jayashree & Bash will match every donation dollar-dollar by anyone who has not donated to Asha in 2009. This is a great way to encourage new donors to support Asha!

  • Birthday Dinner for Asha by Vibhavaree Gargeya
Vibhavaree’s family has a tradition of taking each other out to dinner to celebrate birthdays. This year, instead of a restaurant treat, Vibhavaree invited family and friends to dinner at her house, on July 18th. The idea being, that the usual restaurant expenses would go to Asha-Seattle instead. Everyone welcomed the idea, and the evening turned out to be a wonderful one, making for a memorable and more meaningful Birthday.
