Minutes of meeting held on 2/22/95

The following were present at the meeting.
Jayashree, Ashok, Gopal, Murali, Dilip, Charu, Srinivas, Siva, Shamik, and Madhan

TAX_ID Status: Srinivas informed us that he had been in touch with Abhey Bhushan of ICA and they are having a meeting on March 9th were they will review our Tax-id status. Srinivas will write a letter to ICA regarding our chapter here in Seattle, its goals, its hierarchical structure etc.. Srinivas will also keep an account book and he, Santosh will initiate contact with the Asha-Stanford treasurer.

PROJECTS: All of us discussed the projects( the previous four) at length and discussed them in detail. We also voted on them and gave our preferences. subsequent to which we learnt about the change in them from Jayashree. Please give your project feedback to her as soon as possible.

EVENTS: AS of now we are planning on the following in the coming months:
  1. Potluck dinner having invitees and suggesting a minimum donation.
  2. Hindustani Night (a performance by artists ..followed by dinner..)
  3. Carnatic Night (on the same lines with the obvious change..)
  4. A possible event in the University of Washington. later on
  5. Quiz Show.
Siva Briefed the meeting briefly about the UW meeting. IT was attend by a few members from the University of Washington and it proposes to work as a group to plan some fundraising events in the University area and Seattle Side. As a start the first video rental scheme night is on March 17th and all are welcome.

It was also decided that there shall be a booth for the NET_IP event. NET_IP (network of young India professionals) The event is on Feb 28th Tuesday. Jayashree and Ashok are planning to go to it. If anyone else wants to go then please call Jayashree at 883 4484.

Radio program ad and the one page flier to the IAWW newsletter was briefly discussed and Jayashree, Bash will send them both to the respective destinations.

FOCUS GROUPS: The following focus groups were formed with the following group objectives, Please read through the focus groups and if you weren't present at the meeting then please choose one or two focus groups that you wished to be working and in email the group members and also send an e-mail to athreya@u.washington.edu. This is just to ensure more organisation and responsibility and does not limit participation in other focus groups.
  1. Finance Group: Srinivas , Santosh,
    The group will keep track of the finances of the chapter. It will be responsible for keeping track of Asha expenses and contributions. It will follow up Matching gift contributions etc.. It will also keep in touch with ICA and maintain records as specified.

  2. Publicity and Events Group: Gopal, Ashok, Murali, Jayashree, Saket.
    The group will be overall responsible for publicity of the organisation and also in charge of events that are held by Asha. All of us will help during the event, but the group will have the main responsibility of the event.

  3. Projects: Amol, Shamik, Jayashree.
    The group will be overall in charge of projects. The group shall be up to date on the projects : funding reqd, status of the projects, no. of site visits,...etc. The group will also keep in touch with Asha Stanford and to get the up to date info on projects that are being handled by them.

  4. Data Base group: Siva, Charu.
    The group shall be responsible for maintaining the database of members, keeping listdists, looking over Asha@u email account. It shall also be responsible for Thank you letters to be sent out. It shall prepare the newsletter for the organisation. The group shall also maintain a list of all focus group and its members.
