Minutes of meeting held on 1/31/95

  1. Siva went over the plans for the general meeting at UW on 2/7. Outsiders will not be invited to this on-campus meeting. It will be a mostly-UW affair. If any of the core Asha members are interested, please contact Siva.

  2. We went over the IAWW function. Asha managed to raise approximately $85 (+ a hopeful matching contribution from Boeing.). Also, CSrinivas announced Asha and described our goals. We have collected approximately 40 addresses. The foll agenda items have resulted from the IAWW function -
    1. Make contribution slip + FAQ (Charu, CSri, Jay & Bash)
    2. Mail to the people whose addresses we collected with enclosed return addresses. (Charu, CSri, Jay & Bash)
    3. Contact Boeing and register for their matching gifts program. (Charu, CSri, Jay & Bash)
    4. Prepare the 1 page handout to give to IAWW (Charu, Jay, Csri & Bash)
    5. Make 300 copies of the flyers to give to the Kannada sangam (Jay, Bash)
    6. Collect and keep matching contribution forms from Boeing & Microsoft. (Siva from Boeing).
    7. Siva - contact the Boeing person.

  3. The database with the names & addresses of volunteers/potential donors has to be updated. - Sethu & Lalitha will design the contents and keep the database updated. Charu, please give the current names to Sethu. Sethu may maintain a profile about the people to keep track on how they can help Asha. We may eventually use IAWW, MCSI databases with their permission and find the 'right' people.

  4. Santosh will maintain the overall accounts. All of us will contribute some money beginning of the month (suggested $10 per person) towards common expenses. People who spend towards Asha should preserve their receipts and get reimbursed from Santosh.

  5. CSri will temporarily take care of mailing Asha receipts to Stanford. He will keep Santosh updated about the checks received as contributions.

  6. CSri is also looking into the confusion about our tax-id status. Maybe Santhosh shd look at this as well since he is our treasurer?? Santhosh, please work with CSri regarding this?? 
  7. Getting a PO box for Asha - Charu & CSri.

  8. Siva, compose the text mail to be sent on deshi - Bash may use portions of this or create another one for Microsoft.

  9. FAQ - Amol & Saket. CSri please mail the current FAQ to Amol.

  10. Tamil Sangam function Murali, Jay+Bash, CSri+Charu, one UW student will attend. Murali will prepare a short speech in Tamil for this purpose. Amol - please contact Siva Bala Narayanan to find out if we can have a table there.

  11. Grocery coupons - Murali, follow up with Safeway and figure out the logistics. We will all then pool in and find approx 60-75 families who will agree to this scheme. It may be worthwhile checking with QFC too - Murali.

  12. Mala, contact the libraries in the eastside & UW dist to find a meeting place. Also, contact YMCA to find out about using their facilities.

  13. Bash, put together the radio-program ad.
