Status of the project for the last year
• Second Year – Avehi, Mega Project, Designed Foundation Course for Bombay Municipal Schools
• Sciences and Geog taught
• Kit is given out to teachers and students – Work books, Set of worksheets and Visual Aids
• Handout with important details and numbers given out
• Teacher training workshops are held in June in December
• They are in production phase, Asha should Investigate long term potential
• Scope is huge. 7000 kids and 7000 added each year
• Current funding of the tune of 23,000 is proving to be insufficient.
• AVEHI have asked Asha to review their training kits. They were passed around.
• Avehi yahoogroup. Need people to review the material. Pass onto people who maybe qualified
• There is also a need to understand exactly what they are doing and try to review to make it better if possible
• Kit 2 is already in production. Feedback might or might not make it in. But is good for future kits.
• Need a website for Avehi. Production Cost is approx = 3,000 once prototype is ready

Kaithi:
• Detailed Report on the web.
• PPI and Asha collaborate on this.
• Education Center for Vocational training.
• Started by 2 brothers – Honey production using traditional bee keeping techniques, minimum damage to the bees and comb. (Near Benares). Jayashree detailed the procedure.
• Impressed by the honesty and dedication of the people.
• Srishti asked if this can be done in Karnataka or is it region specific (bee keeping). Need trees and sunlight?
• Expanding into teaching tailoring for women.

Lalpur: 1.5 hrs from Lucknow. Tiny village with caste issues.
• Training village youth to run the village.
• 2 youths being mentored in Homeopathy.
• 2 dedicated people to resolve caste issues. They report incidents to he SC/ST commission and follow up. Villagers coming together and demanding more answers from local politician. Politically very aware.

Jayashree discussed Balia, one of the first Asha centers.

Kanpur: Expensive and largest Asha center.
• School that teaches Jivan Vidya (self-reliance).
• 17 Kids.
• Working with children from Migrant communities.
• Not very impressed.

Ibtada: Srishti
Site visited, Funds from Tata. So we don’t have to consider this for funding now.

Charu will send mail regarding budget. But generally RAISE MORE MONEY!!
