Asha Silicon Valley is a chapter of Asha for Education, a not-for-profit,
volunteer driven organization dedicated to bring socio-economic change in India. While most of our efforts are
focused around the education of underprivileged children we also work on holistic solutions for communities we work with.
Mission: To catalyze socio-economic change in India through education of underprivileged children
We currently work with 42 projects in 12 states of India in a wide range of areas of education and development:
-
Formal Education (Govt. prescribed syllabus)
- Alternate (non-formal) Education (learn through projects, games, etc.)
- Community based projects (schools, women's empowerment, etc.)
- Right to Information and Employment Guarantee (RTI/NREGA) acts based education/programs/fellowships
- Kids at risk (rescued from child labor, children of sex workers, etc.)
- Tribal area education
- Bridge schools (to help kids get into mainstream education)
- Special education (for kids with mental disabilities)
- Training (teacher training, improving quality of education)
- Higher Education
- Residential homes
Our annual budget is over $600K for 2010 and we are actively looking for ways and volunteers to meet our target. Do get in touch with us if you wish to participate in any way.

Asha Silicon Valley is a zero-overhead organization and every dollar we receive as
donation goes directly to projects in India.
We are an apolitical and secular organization and strictly work only with like-minded organizations.
Our interpretation of education is broader than the strict sense of literacy and
we work on skills that help children and individuals stand on their own feet and earn a
livelihood as well as lead a wholesome life.
We are a non-hierarchical, fully volunteer driven organization and everyone who is interested in
contributing towards the underprivileged is welcome to participate in our activities and decisions as equals.
