CDDP Photographs
The Center for Development of Disadvantaged People (CDDP Project) runs schools in a number of villages located in Thiruvallur district, on the way to Bangalore, about 70 km from Chennai. Most of the villages in the area are highly structured based on class and caste. Three clear strata are: high-class zamindars/land-owners, scheduled class, and scheduled tribes. Each group lives in a separate zone in the village. CDDP's work focuses on the last two groups especially in helping the children join mainstream education.
Field Trip to Chennai, Dec 2002

In December 2002, children from the four CDDP schools at Nemili, Nallatur, Arungulam and Nedumbaram went on a field trip to the city of Chennai. Asha volunteer Shyam Raghunandan who was visiting India also accompanied them.

Children from the two oldest CDDP run non-formal schools at Arungulam and Nedumbaram were admitted to nearby government public schools in June-July 2003.
Field Trip to Vellur, Dec 2004

Students from CDDP went on a trip to the city of Vellur during 2004. The trip took the children to the Fort at Vellur which is more than 500 years old. It houses a museum, the Jalakandeswar temple and has become a local tourist spot. The attractions also include parks and a cool boat ride across the moat that surrounds the Fort.
