This is the first time I will be running half marathon and training for it with Asha.
It is a fun experience running and training with Team Asha for the race and even more fun practicing for it, starting right from getting up at 5 in the morning (on weekends as well)
to watching yourself slowly develop the stamina and pace to run for a couple of hours in a row. And when your purpose of running is combined with a noble cause,
it's like you have a couple hundred horsepower engine attached to your back to keep you going. You are not running only for yourself and your fitness,
but for all those thousands of kids on your motherland who are looking upto you and depending on you.
Asha is a non-profit, completely volunteer driven organization that helps with providing education to the underprivileged children back in India, in terms of
providing funding and resources. Team Asha consists of a number of enthusiastic and energetic volunteers who are eager to make a mark in the Indian society by
providing education to the budding generation and empowering them to fend for themselves and their families and lead a better life.
Every dollar contributed goes towards the projects.
I have always been active in other sports like badminton, swimming, raquet ball etc., but never found a motivation to take up running as a sport.
Asha provided me with a solid reason to take running as my primary sport. I am relatively new to Team Asha, and really looking forward to working
with them and contributing in an effort to help my brothers and sisters back in India.
My goal is to raise at least 560$ (40$ a mile)for Asha St. Louis projects.
