CALENDARS

Each Asha-core member will take a certain number of Asha calendars and
sell it. The selling price for each calendar will be $10.If any member
cannot sell all calendars, she/he has to pay $5 for each of the unsold
calendars. Every member has to pay $10 for atleast one calendar. This is
on the assumption that every member will buy one calendar for
herself/himself.

LETTER SENT TO INDIAN FACULTY IN SYRACUSE FOR DONATIONS

Prof. Uday Banerjee responded to the letter. It was decided to invite
Pro. Banerjee for one of Asha's meeting .Since, Prof. Banerjee is in the
executive committee of ICRCC and has voluntered to help Asha-Syracuse to
put our case before the board, his help can be taken to reach ICRCC.

NEW NAME FOR "PENNY BOX COLLECTION"

By vote it was agreed to change the name of 'Penny box' to 'Change for
Change'.
Maya's email will be put on the 'Change for Change' boxes as the contact
person.

Giving personal pictures will be optional.

FILM FESTIVAL
Pradeep has still not got definite information, if the film festival
project will go through. Pradeep to get the information and then the
group to decide, if this project to be pursued or dropped.

No current member of the Ashacore listserve wants to be removed from the
listserve

NAME FOR THE MAID PROJECT
About the project: Asha volunteers or anybody else from India residing
outside India,sponsors partially or completely the education of their
family's maid servent's children in India.
Names suggested:
Maya's suggestion - "Asha Akshar"
Natrajan's suggestion- "Asha Abyasam"
Members to put in their suggestions of names for the project on the
Asha-core listserve. The deadline for deciding on a name has been set to
18th, Dec 01, Tuesday

NATARAJAN'S SUGGESTION
Natarajan suggested giving a certain sum of money to a government
school. This sum of money will be given as scholarship to a certain
number of academically meritorious students.There was considerable
discussion and it was decided that, since this idea ,did not go with
Asha's mission of providing education to the less privilaged children,
it will not be taken up immediately. The group decided to look into the
suggestion sometime in future.

FUND RAISING
Members were of the opinion that Asha-Syracuse has to substantially
increase the amount of donations being collected.

Fund raising ideas for the next semester.
Persons responsible for each of the ideas, to come up with their plans
for how they propose to execute their ideas in the next meeting(Jan 16th
Wednesday)

Organising a Holi festival - Vikas

Making a directory of all Indian's in the central New York area and
selling it-Kabir. The group discussed on this and it was felt that such
a directory would not have enough buyers.

Targeting parents of American-Indian students individually for donations
to Asha.Kabir and Natarajan

Childern's film festival - Jerry and Pradeep

Kite festival - Shanmugha and Vikas

Folk dance - Radha

The next meeting will be on 16th January 2002,8.00PM, Shine centre.
Meetings for the next semester will be wednesday's 8.00PM
