to Asha in two weeks (March 1, 2002) at which time Radha has promised to
make mincemeat of the suggestions.

3) Funding.
The anonymous donor (who will continue to remain anonymous - curiousity is
not encouraged) has agreed to make donations ranging from $1000/- to $2000/-
in the years to come.
Natarajan reported that the current Asha bank balance stands at $1680/-
Uma raised $260/- in personal donations. Natarajan will hand over the
receipts to Uma.

4) The letter which was sent to the faculty in December will be send again
via email. Sucharita has volunteered to forward the email to faculty at
Upstate University.

5) Penny Drive - Anand has volunteered to coordinate the penny drive. This
will involve collecting penny boxes which were distributed in December as
well as distributing 24 new penny boxes. A movie will be screened by Asha
next Friday (22 February) for this purpose

6) Anand will find out when the GSO budget request is due. The budget will
be made up by the folks in the Admin group.

7) Natarajan will hand over an Asha T-shirt to Vanita.

8) Anyone who cannot make it to an Asha meeting will send an email to
Asha-Core regarding this. If you are reluctant to send this to the whole
listserv, you may send it to the chair of the next meeting (If you can't
make it to the meeting on Feb 22, you may write to Jerry at
jkalaric@maxwell.syr.edu)

9) Basant
Radha has obtained the letter from Pankaj which proves that Asha is a
legitimate Fundraising organization.
The Basant group will meet on Tuesday (Feb 19) at 7 pm at Schine 233. Those
interested in organizing this event are encouraged to attend this meeting.

There were three options presented regarding the date and venue for the
Basant event. This was voted on.

April 5 - Sky Barn (combining the Mela and Dance event into a single
event ) - 2 votes

April 12 - Atrium (Mela)
Grant Auditorium - (Dance) - 2 votes

April 12 - Alibrandi Catholic Center (ACC) - (Mela and Dance combined into
single event) - 6 votes. (This will cost us $125/- as rent).

The above voting was not deemed sufficient to make the decision. There was a
suggestion that Grant auditorium could be used to combine the Dance (inside
the auditorium) and Mela (in the lobby outside the auditorium). The ensuing
debate was inconclusive (surprise, surprise. :)) It was decided that the
Basant committee would visit the two sites (Grant and the Alibrandi Catholic
Center) after the meeting to make a comparative analysis. The results of
this survey is being awaited by all with baited (and some unbaited) breath.

Shanmugha will book Goldstein for a random day in October so that Asha will
not run into a venue crunch next semester.

Namaste@listserv.syr.edu will be the official communication listserv for the
Basant committee.

Anand will send a separate email regarding the decisions made by the Basant
committee.

10) Sucharita Saha will try to get a list of Indians from the community.
She has also volunteered to liasion with the Indian community in Syracuse
regarding the Basant event.

11) Next meeting will be chaired by Jerry
As of now there are three items on the agenda:
i) Update on Basant
ii) Penny drive
iii) Decisions regarding Community Outreach

If you have other items to be added to the agenda, please email jerry at
