Friday, March 1 Meeting Minutes: 5.00-6.10 pm

ATTENDEES

Maya, Kabir, Anand (Chair), Radhika, Neelakshi, Jerry, Anu, Shanmuga, Vikas, Veronica, Suchitra, Pradeep and Sally.

UPDATES FROM RESPECTIVE COORDINATORS:

I.Fundraising Team (by Anand on behalf of Vanita)

Ideas were: Focus on getting sponsors; have Asha booth every semester at Schine; Personal collections; Community interaction; Indian faculty; have donation box at Kashmir, Samrat,India House; Shopping at Asha site

'Demands' PR to work with them.

II. Public Relations Team(Kabir)

Have bookmarks ready all the time to market (with quotations relating to Asha's activities); post teasers frequently (about what we are..); Easle poster put up at Schine; Custom poster for talk series with "ASHA presents.." uniform; Sell ASHA merchandize through bookstore; Available material for publicity

III. Project Team(Vikas)

*Scouting

- Through individual Volunteers/networks; websites; or through Asha Worldwide

* Project Progress

- Ask to submit Activity form every 3-4 months from sponsored projects

* Evaluation

- Reduce the present form to 3 pages to make it more friendly

a) State indicators for appraisal; b) Connect to Asha World wide projects

* Documentation

- A comprehensive list of various projects since Asha Syracuse's inception (with basic information about each project)

[Kabir- asked if we could target States in Selection criteria for projects- decided that the primary criteria would be a project's mission)

[Anand- suggested that we make regular contact phone call every month for better monitoring and friendlier interaction with projects- decided for every 3 months instead]

IV. Administration Team (Shanmuga)

* Total documentation

* Document Storage (GSO annual lease or a space at South Asia Center)

* Revamp website- to increase better access to information; the web site would soon be separated from Yahoo groups

V. New Member Orientation Team (Jerry)

* Will work with PR

* Will pair each new member with an old member

* Follow-up dropouts (new as well as old members)

* Formal orientation for the new students

* Throw a party at the beginning of the semester (into approx. three weeks)

* Get the new members to table the atrium

VI. I & I Team (Suchitra)

* Asha World Wide projects

* World Computer exchange

- right now for West Bengal
