& Responsibility
With the experience of 12 years in the field of children's education, Murthy is
engaged in support of over 1000 children through Non-formal education (NFE).
From 1989 onwards, he worked with the rural community for socio-economic
development getting Government Welfare Schemes for the people and formed many
Women's groups. From 1998 onwards, he started to work for the alternative
education of children in Brick kiln industries. He later linked these children
into Government formal school after they go back to their native place. He is
organising activities for the Community, Govt Education Department, Brick kiln
owners and Local Panchayat owners to set up a non formal education program for
these migrant children of brick kiln laborers. He is presently working with
migrant people in two places spanning Vizhupuram and Thiruvallur District. His
mission is to eliminate child labour in Brick Industries.
He is the district coordinator for Vizhupuram and Kancheepuram district coastal villages; he is working to identity the needs of the affected people in different villages to support them in their livelihood. He is exploring the concept of cash for work to empower the grass roots communities.
