Three Part Approach

For any successful action in the broad field of development, involvement of all the stakeholders is a must. In a disaster relief and rehabilitation scenario, it is even more important to focus on the community's needs and involvement while working with the government and other NGOs.

The three-part strategy is as follows:

  1. Community first: First-hand site visits to directly interact with the community and assess the needs. Empower the community to set priorities. Realize that they are the primary actors. We are here to support them.
  2. Engage with the Government: Build on the government's programs where they are already people friendly and actively engaged. Make existing resources work better and reach more people in need.
  3. Principle-centred partnership with NGOs: For long term team work, identify partners in govt and NGOs that share the mission and work culture of Asha. Do not invest in people and orgs who are money-centered in their relationship with Asha.
