Sharan Asundi Graduate Student, University of Florida About Me I'm a graduate student in the department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at the University of Florida and I build robots. I joined Asha-UFlorida as a webmaster in Spring 2005. Since then it's been a delightful experience as a volunteer with this organization. The will to make a difference in the lives of fellow Indians, children in particular whom we believe are true assets of a nation, got me associated with Asha for Education. The UFlorida chapter then had just 4-5 active volunteers but the determination to get it going was 10 fold. Today we're a much bigger organization with more than 40 active volunteers. The very hope which we strive to bring in the lives of underprivileged kids in India keeps us bound together as a family. My Running Experience I've been a sports enthusiast ever since I can remember. I grew up playing all kinds of sports/games, from marbles, gilli-danda, flying kites on the streets to cricket, soccer, basketball, field hockey, badminton, table tennis and so many other games. |
I played basketball and ball badminton for my school and actively
participated in school athletic events. I've been a long distance runner since my 7th
grade. I've competed in cross country races since 7th grade. The first I ran as a Gators
for Asha volunteer was during the Melon Run in July 2006. I'm extremely grateful to our
beloved and respected coaches Rick and Dana who have been instrumental in preparing our
team for the Gate River Run during March 09 in Jacksonville. With their guidance and
support I hope to complete the 9-mile Gate River run for the cause of education of
underprivileged. As Gators for Asha volunteer I'd like to request you to all to support me in raising $400 for the cause of educating kids in India. What I can do as an individual, we can all together do it better as a unit. Please come forward and make your donations using the donation link on this page.
