Asha-UC wins Humanitarian Relief award

We are pleased to announce that Asha Urbana-Champaign is a recipient of the 2007 Champaign-Urbana International Humanitarian Award in the area of Humanitarian Relief. This is how the official letter reads:

The cities of Champaign and Urbana congratulate you on receiving the 2007 Champaign-Urbana International Humanitarian Award in the area of Humanitarian Relief.

We recognize that we have members of our Champaign-Urbana Community with very strong international commitment. Your devotion to international development and relief has been an outstanding way to demonstrate your dedication. Therefore, we would like to express our admiration for your humanitarian efforts around the world. It is with great pleasure that we honor you and present you with the 'Champaign-Urbana International Humanitarian Award.'

The Champaign-Urbana International Humanitarian Awards:
  1. Honors significant contributions (individual and/or organization) to international understanding, cooperation, friendship, and development.
  2. Recognizes the richness of Champaign County's international contributions, concerns and commitments in agriculture, hospitality, humanitarian relief, human rights, research/education, trade and business.
  3. Educates the community about the connections between our local and global community.

Asha-UC was formally presented the award at a Dinner Ceremony that took place at the The Hilton Garden Inn, 1501 S. Neil Street, Champaign on the 18th of October at 6:00 pm. The International Humanitarian award is a testament to the support & commitment expressed by the citizens of Champaign-Urbana towards providing humanitarian relief around the world and recognizes the significance of the work done by Asha in this regard. This is indeed a great accomplishment for a completely volunteer-driven organization like Asha, which operates purely through the support of donors and well-wishers. We would like to thank all of our donors and volunteers for their generous support that has got us this far. It is a rewarding experience to have our efforts recognized by the Champaign-Urbana community.
