Vivekananda Education Society (VESC), located
in Jagaddal, 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, was founded
in January 1996 to address the problem of child labor in the region.
The proposal is to use funds from Work an Hour
to purchase land and build a school. This would allow VESC to
have a permanent base from where it can operate.

Seva Nilayam, located
in a remote village in Tamil Nadu, was created to help the most
economically backward children grow up to be educated, talented
individuals who will be a great asset for society.
The Gurukulam, presently housing 31 girls, aims
to take in girl children with no home and bring them up with loving
care. There are plans to start a school inside the Gurukulam to
give them an education and give them different types of vocational
training to help them become independent, responsible adults.
This proposal includes requests for funding the
Gurukulam and the School. Asha-Irvine is also supporting this
project.

Bhoomiheen Sewa Samiti is a voluntary service society
committed to the task of national reconstruction and is based
in Uttar Pradesh.
Work an Hour funds are being requested for the non-recurring
expenses of purchasing beds for the hostel, play field equipment, science
club equipment, library books, musical instruments etc.
