Work an Hour Funds Usage Follow Up
For several of these [WAH] projects, the respective project websites have
information of the work being done (through reports and site visit
reports).
I have had the opportunity to visit and spend a reasonable amount of time at 5
Work An Hour beneficiaries during the past year: Timbaktu Collective
(Anantapur), Odanadi (Mysore), APSA (Bangalore), Vanavasi Ashram (Wayanad),
and Sahanivasa (Chittoor). The new school for APSA was buzzing with activity
during a visit last sunday (it's open, child-friendly design was a delight
to see), and the construction at Odanadi was well on its way from what I saw
a couple of weeks back.
I felt that, in each case, WAH support has been of significant help to the
respective groups in sustaining their work and taking it to the next levels.
As an Asha volunteer, that was a good feeling to take away from these
visits. Another important point to stress is that even after the WAH year,
Asha continued to be associated with most of these groups (through
chapter-level support, volunteer involvement etc), thus ensuring continuity
to the work.
