The event kicks off on July 4th, peaks on August 15th and concludes on September 5th. 15th of August, Indias Independence Day, is the symbolic date chosen for this phenomenal coming together of the human spirit. Last year's Work an Hour helped projects that ranged from residential camps for young girls in Rajasthan to educating small and marginal farmers about sustainable agriculture in the Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. Details about the progress of these projects are available on the website. These projects were supported with over $100,000 raised from more than 1,300 donors supporting the event. http://www.ashanet.org/workanhour/wah2002_feedback.html Work an Hour 2003 aims to raise $125,000 by September 5th, 2003. The funds raised will be used towards projects that range from helping visually impaired individuals to lead regular lives in Valsad, Gujarat, to reintegrating street children and children of commercial sex-workers into mainstream schools in Calcutta, West Bengal. Details about all the projects are available on the website: http://www.ashanet.org/workanhour/projects.html You can be a part of this event by donating one hour of your time to help educate the underprivileged in India.
