"Ensure a world class education for every child in every rural government school"

• Reduce student teacher ratios to 1:20 in rural govt schools by adding well qualified full time teachers
• Improve learning outcomes by adding teachers trained in Activity based Learning for primary classes
• Increase graduation rates of govt high schools in rural areas to be on par with urban schools
• Help upgrade government middle schools to higher secondary schools
• Improve quality of education within government schools by continuous teacher training
• Conduct educational fairs, introduce teaching aids and experiments in rural government schools
• Inculcate problem solving skills and facilitate entry to higher education

This is our dream. Every child in every rural government school should get a world-class education. So wherever we find a rural govt school classroom that needs an extra teacher, we add the extra teacher. Wherever we see a student's eyes glaze over in boredom, our teacher helps her put together a science experiment. So far, we have added additional 52 teachers to 20 government schools in 25 villages serving 7500 students – and in every school where we have added teachers, graduation rates have soared, primary school students are learning better, and more students are starting college.

Do you know what just staggers us? It amazes us that a girl whose parents can barely sustain themselves can come close to being the highest performer in the state of Tamilnadu, That she can do this while studying at a government school from a village which until recently, did not even have a high school. That she can do this while spending most of the year sitting in a makeshift classroom under the shade of a large tree, waiting for a Math teacher who never came, till, Asha appointed a substitute teacher. That she can do this when she has to share the attention of the teacher along with a hundred other students. That she can do this, while writing her board exams under the shade of the same large tree she studied under, in the hot May sun.

That she studied in one of the government schools that we worked in, where our additional teachers stayed behind every evening to help her prepare for the morrow's board exams.

To put this in perspective, take a look at the more privileged private school from where the top performer from the state most likely came from...her school had fantastic teachers, her parents had multiple degrees between them, and she had taken personal coaching classes every evening for 2 years to prepare for the state board exams. Her teacher gave her personal attention as there were only 30 students in her Math class. The class was large enough to be her community and small enough that her teacher knew that she needed extra help with Math. And if she still had a doubt, she could always go home and ask her parents.

The spectacular effort by the girl in the government school needs our protection, to ensure that her school eventually gets a highly qualified teacher to teach Math and an extra Arts teacher. And India's youth gets to mesmerize us with their achievements in the Science and the Arts and Commerce regardless of where they were born and which school they went to. Help us support children who go to India's rural government schools – they make up 85% of India's school going children. In their future lies India's future.

Reward Trust adopts rural government schools and helps strengthen them, one school at a time. We add teachers to rural government schools wherever the students need an additional teacher. Our teachers are well qualified, well paid and teach full time in the classroom. We conduct regular teacher training to continually improve quality of education. We conduct science fairs and train teachers to use teaching aids. Students in the government schools we work in create models and experiments and ask questions and learn. They also graduate in large numbers and go on to college.

• Since 2005, Reward Trust has added 52 additional full time teachers in 20 government schools in 25 rural villages teaching 7500 students.
• Our teachers are experienced and well qualified. Most have post graduate degrees in the subjects they teach in addition to degrees in Education.
• Smaller class sizes have led to improved learning outcomes. Hundreds more primary school children from 25 villages are reading, writing and counting with increased proficiency since we added additional primary school teachers who were trained in the Activity Based Learning.
• Since adding the teachers, average high school graduation rates in the area have doubled to 70%.
• One government high school obtained a 100% graduation rate for 3 years in a row.
• Our teachers helped increase graduation rates in some rural government schools from 10 % to 77% in 5 years.
• We helped upgrade 3 govt middle schools to high schools and one govt high school to a higher secondary school.
• We conduct monthly teacher training and have conducted science fairs, introduced experiments and teaching aids in the government school classroom.

Reward Trust is a zero overhead volunteer run organization of teachers, scientists and primary education specialists. We started out by adopting 3 rural govt schools in 2005 – we added one teacher at a time and waited to see the results. To date, we have added 52 teachers to 20 govt schools in 25 rural villages and the results are stunning. Close to 7500 students have benefitted from primary school all the way through higher secondary school. Class sizes are close to 1:30. Hundreds more students have graduated high school and are aspiring for college. Learning outcomes across hundreds of primary school students has significantly improved.
We seek your support for India's children who go to rural government schools. A future where every village has a middle school and high school in walking distance of it's students. Where the govt school is adequately staffed, has small class sizes and highly qualified teachers.

85% of India's children go to govt schools. Let us work together to provide every child in every rural government school a world-class education.

Support a teacher in a rural government school today.
