Answers to questions posed by Shailen:

1. Who is Yogendra Narain? What is his email? Is he from India or from the US? Why should we care about his recommendation? Maybe a short sentence or two at the beginning referencing who he is and why he is important in ref. to the project.

Answer: He is the Chief Secretary of UP. The title on that link says that. Sorry, should have also mentioned that in the text.

2. Who is Mahesh? What is his last name? What is his email? Is he from the US or India? Is he an Asha member? If so, what chapter? Maybe a short sentence or two at the beginning referencing who he is and why he is important in reference to the project.

Answer: Mahesh is an Asha - India worker who works at the Asha's Ballia centre.

3. It is not clear why the school stresses that 1/3 of both schools are girls, while the site visit says 25% and 20%. Hmmm... maybe it would be good to have an actual table of  GRADE, BOYS, GIRLS, TOTAL

Answer: Last year's annual report mentions this statistic that there is a girl student per 2 boys.

4. The post above says that the request for infrastructure is $13k, while from the original proposal it is actually Rs. 775235 which is $19.4k
(assuming $1 =~ Rs. 40)
In addition, the ongoing costs are said to be $6200 above but in the proposal it is Rs. 513000 which is $12.8k. This issue needs to be cleared up soon.

Answer: Yes there is a difference here. The funding being provided by the seattle chapter and the proposal for WAH 99 are based on the estimates obtained from the site visit report.

5. There is a HUGE discrepancy between original proposal and site visit report in regards to the financials.

Answer: Same as number 5.

6. Another big item is that we do not have any financial reports from previous years.

Answer: We have the annual report but not the financial report. I'll submit a request for the same to the project coordinator in India.

7. How are they getting funded right now to run? Who are the large donors?

Answer: Will get specific information on this soon.

8. They have been running since it seems like 1997. How have they funded their efforts in the last two years? Any financial reports available?

Answer: Same as that for number 7.
